Test Drove the New Civic Si!

Today I drove past my local Honda Dealership and what did I spot but the new Civic Si in Black and White. They looked better in person then the pics from what I have seen on the net. Needs to be dropped with some bigger wheels though and maybe a lip spoiler and side skirts, all and all not bad looking. Interior was nice. Seats are incredible. Shifter felt kinda odd. Engine, hmmmm looked hard to work on, not much room to do mods to, I was trying to figure out how to stick a turbo in there [img]wink.gif[/img]

Well I took it for a spin, car was solid. Felt well made, handled good. Pushing down on the peddle I did notice more grunt then the previous Si at low RPM BUT had NO VTEC kick in sound or pull. Kinda bummed about that. All and All I rate it 7/10. Honda is asking 19,000 for it, I think thats to high, 17,000 would make it more worth the money. Anyone else check them out?

I was at the pittsburgh autoshow last night. I there was a White Si there. In person, even in white, i must say that car looked better than i tought it would. The seats rock. I like the new shifter location, feels a little funny when you shift fast but I really didn't even notice. I love how close to the wheel it is. The petals were alot better spaced and alot bigger than my little old 89 I sorta liked that too. Over the interior and exterior quality was really nice, much better than previous civics...so i guess that means something hehe. I popped the hood...and I kept lookin at the huge gap between the motor and the firewall where the header is thinking "yea...a turbo would fit in there, they left room" lol. Yea eric you wern't the only one thinkin bout that [img]wink.gif[/img] . Yea i'd really like to drive one myself. If I owned on I think wheels would be the first mod. Then maybe intake and catback since the K20 motor apparetly loves mods hehe.

I also sat in a RSX-S...I want one...badly. The 6 speed was perfect to shift....period (this is compared to like 20 other cars i sat in). The stock steering wheels was almost the size of my Momo wheel, so that ruled. Seats were really close to the new Si seats (again a good thing, think del sol seats they are pretty close in both cars). I was lookin under the RSX-S and noticed it had subframe connectors like a ITR, again that gave me some hope. And finally, even in white, the car looked damn good. And since I has 200hp and a perfect shifter compared to the Si's 160 but still fun rally shifter....damn its a hard choice if I had to pick one hehe, but I'd say the RSX as of now.

I'm a honda mechanic and i got to inspect the first si that we got in ,including a long test drive. Believe it or not to order the just the seat cover fabric is $800 per seat. lol. Other than a hefty $19,000 price tag, i think thier pretty awesome lil cars. The vtec soleniod kicks in with less notice, and theres a vtc solenoid that controls an adjustable cam gear on the intake manifold. Plus the motor and tranny are mounted in backwards from normal hondas,mounted like the new crv so someones gonna have to work on new goodies for the si hatch....
